Nok training knives have a hard core so the blade won't give during contact, thus simulating realistic strikes and therefore bringing out the appropriate response from the target.  Double layers of padding are added to the edges of the knife to avoid chipping bones and minimising the chance of cuts when hitting soft tissue. The butt end of the knife is also padded to allow strikes and control techniques during close in fighting.  The knives are hard wearing and can be safely used for many hours of drills and sparing.
